2012 Seed Order

Once again I ordered from Seed Savers. Here is my order form:

We will also be planting tomatoes, grapes and peppers, but we’ll buy those as plants.

And now on to chickens and bees!

What garden plans are you making?

  1. My one goal today was to get my seeds ordered. And I failed. I see some things on your list that are also on my list! 🙂 Maybe there is still hope for me. I'm pulling out the catalog. Thanks for the kick on the arse.

  2. I started some seeds inside this year – cilantro, dill, parsley, basil (from seeds from my plant last year!), and flowers of johnny jump up and forget me not.

I WANT to start a veggie garden this year, but we live sandwiched between railroad tracks (VERY active ones) and a river that isn't exactly the cleanest river ever. I'm trying to figure out if it would be safe to eat veggies grown here in my soil.

But I DO plan on buying a couple of fruit bushes – raspberries (cause I eat them as often as possible), blueberries, and blackberries. Maybe some strawberry plants too. I can get massive pots to keep those in if I have to.

  3. Michelle, delighted to kick your arse anytime.

Sapphire – that's a good question! There are soil testing kits, maybe ask a county extension officer? Trees are a great idea. How about raised beds?

  4. We are doing our tiny veggie garden, which mostly gets canned and pickled for winter use, but we're also going to try the Sunflower House from the book Roots, Shoots, Buckets and Boots. The seeds are ordered and my kiddos are so excited! (And I admit that I am, too!)
