 What is a “Do Nothing” Saturday like at Many Hands House?

I awoke to a much anticipated  blossom:

An inter-library loan jackpot:

And even more book packages in the mail!:

Started kombucha:

  I also helped make pancakes, tore phone books,  cleaned the basement, did laundry, washed countless dishes, breastfed, soaked my little guy’s owie foot, rinsed sprouts, tested a new vegan cheese, held rats, listened to a chapter of The Sword in the Stone, and knit while the men role played.

And there is still SNL.

  1. Moved some piles from here to there. Mopped the kitchen floor. Bought some shoes for my shoeless girl. Drank some wine. Searched for an awesome crochet bag pattern and found two! Played the keyboard. Listened to several songs that my kids played for me on guitar and keyboard. Kissed my husband. Cuddled the puppies. Frontier-villed! Life is good.

  2. I want to know why you were tearing phone books, is this a recycling technique I haven't heard of? Are you feeding worms?

    Our do-nothing day looked like this (last week, when we had one); fire in the fireplace, write a little, jump on the trampoline with the kids, make hot chocolate after, with marshmallows, listen to kids playing guitar and piano, cuddle baby (who is three, but still baby),do laundry, think about organizing pile of papers on desk, decide to finish knitting a hat from rainbow yarn instead, listen to career plans from 14-year-old, listen to argument from 12-year-old on why violent video game ban should be lifted from house (Mama-1, boy-0.5), help 9-year-old put together outfit for Girl Scout ball, put away remaining Christmas ornaments, cook fantastic meals with hubby, eat fantastic meals, sample new wine with meals, read aloud; Harry Potter 3, watch movie together while knitting some more, cuddle everyone and send them to bed.

  3. Breastfeeding, dishes and roleplaying? Sounds like last Sunday for me, except I was the one doing the roleplaying at a friend's house,and the game was Pathfinder, a.k.a D&D 3.75 edition in all but name ;).

  4. We tore phone books in half because one of my children saw a you tube video of the “strongest man on earth” tearing a phone book in half. I knew this was an old parlor trick, and taught my children the secret. Now to get Christopher to bend that iron horseshoe……
